CE Requirement – Alaska
Alaska Electrician Continuing Education Requirements: All Alaska-licensed Journeyman Electricians and Electrical Administrators must complete continuing education (CE) during each two-year license period before they may renew their license. Journeyman Electricians are required to complete 16 hours of CE, while Electrical Administrators must complete 8 hours of CE.

Obtain a certificate of completion from your course provider for your personal records.
Certify that you have met the CE requirements on your renewal application and attach course certificates if required.
Complete the renewal application and pay the fee online via the appropriate state department website.

Important Notes
- Journeyman Electrician Certificate of Fitness expires two years from the date of issuance.
- Journeyman CE: At least 8 of the 16 hours must cover the National Electrical Code (NEC), and no more than 8 hours can be “electrical industry related”.
- Electrical Administrator licenses expire on December 31st of odd-numbered years.
- Electrical Administrator CE: The 8 hours must cover the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- You must submit a statement on your renewal form certifying that you have met the CE requirements.
- Keep your course completion certificates for your records; you must attach copies to the Journeyman renewal application.
- Online renewal for Electrical Administrators is available through the MY LICENSE portal.
