Course description
Covers the use of general purpose AI assistants in an electrical contracting business, beginning with what AI is, where it gets things wrong, and a 60 second check for every draft. Participants set up an assistant with their shop’s details, use it with voice, photos, PDFs, spreadsheets, and sourced research, and then apply it to winning work: lead replies, site notes, material lists, supplier quote checks, a flat rate price book, good, better, best options, exclusions, and follow up.
The course then addresses running jobs and the business, including scheduling messages, permits in a new town, inspection correction notices, change approvals, progress updates, service call write ups, closeout, callbacks, and complaints, along with invoices, past due balances, job profit, cash forecasts, and maintenance agreements. Later modules cover hiring, apprentice handouts, checklists with stop points, SOPs, toolbox talks, incident reports, and handbook policies, followed by local listings, reviews, service pages, and referrals. The final module covers work for builders and general contractors: bid packages, subcontract review, vendor packets, daily reports, RFIs, change order proposals, and closeout documents.
Learning objectives
- Identify tasks an AI assistant can draft for an electrical contracting business, and the pricing, code, and factual errors to check before a draft reaches a customer.
- Apply prompts that turn site notes, photos, voice memos, and job details into material lists, scopes, priced options, and customer messages.
- Determine job profit, upcoming cash needs, and collection steps from invoices, receipts, and job records.
- Apply AI drafting to crew handouts, SOPs, toolbox talks, incident reports, review replies, and builder documents such as RFIs and change order proposals.
