This 1-hour online continuing education course is designed to enhance electricians’ understanding of Florida’s Laws and Rules governing the electrical trade. Tailored for license renewal, the course covers essential topics such as licensing board regulations, definitions, specialty electrical contractor requirements, continuing education obligations, and associated fees. Participants will earn 1 hour of Laws/Rules (LR) credit, fulfilling a key requirement for electrical license renewal in Florida.
Learning objectives
- Locate the requirements for electrical contracting in F.S. Chapter 489, Part II and F.A.C. Division 61G6, including the role of the Electrical Contractors’ Licensing Board.
- Identify the licensing, registration, fee, inactive status, renewal and continuing education requirements in F.S. 489.509 through 489.519.
- Describe the exemptions from licensure, the responsibilities of qualifying agents, and the scopes of work for specialty contractors and limited licenses.
- Identify prohibited acts, criminal penalties, disciplinary guidelines and citation authority under F.S. 489.531 and 489.533 and F.A.C. 61G6-10 and 61G6-11.
