Washington – NEC 2023 – Code Update (CH 1-8)

This course provides a comprehensive analysis of the significant changes, additions, and revisions found in the 2023 National Electrical Code (NEC), alongside critical electrical safety work practices. Participants will navigate through the newly added Articles, including Article 726 for Class 4 Fault-Managed Power Systems, Article 369 for Insulated Bus Pipe (IBP) Systems, and Article 512 covering Cannabis Oil Equipment. The curriculum delves into major structural changes for medium and high-voltage installations, specifically the new Articles 235 and 245 regarding circuits and overcurrent protection over 1000V AC/1500V DC.

In addition to new technologies, the course covers essential updates to general requirements, such as reconditioned equipment labeling (110.20), arc-flash hazard warnings (110.16), and surge protection (230.67 & 215.18). Practical application of code changes in residential and commercial settings—including garage branch circuits, emergency disconnects, and tamper-resistant receptacles—is thoroughly examined. Finally, the training reinforces safe work environments by reviewing the process for establishing electrically safe work conditions (120.6) and hearing protection requirements (130.7), ensuring professionals are equipped to meet both compliance and safety standards.
