This 8-hour online course for Michigan Sign Specialists provides a comprehensive review of the most significant changes in the 2023 National Electrical Code (NEC). It also includes the mandatory Michigan 2023 NEC Amendments from the Michigan Electrical Code Rules Part 8, which are required for license renewal.
Learning objectives
- Identify 2023 NEC changes in Article 100 definitions and the Article 110 requirements for reconditioned equipment, markings, arc flash warnings and working space, and the NFPA 70E steps for establishing an electrically safe work condition.
- Apply the branch circuit, surge protection, overcurrent protection and grounding requirements in Articles 210 through 250.
- Apply box fill calculations under 314.16 and the wiring method rules for NM cable, PVC conduit and conductors of different systems in Chapter 3.
- Apply the sign requirements for retrofit kits and disconnects in Article 600, and locate the requirements for switches, receptacles, panelboards, hazardous locations, health care facilities and elevators in Chapters 4 through 6.
