CE Requirement – Nebraska
Nebraska Electrician Continuing Education Requirements: All Nebraska-licensed Electricians must complete 12 hours of Continuing Education (CE) from a state-approved provider during each two-year license period to be eligible for license renewal. At least six of the twelve hours must be dedicated to the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Quick Steps to Renew Your Nebraska Electrician License
Complete a 12-hour state-approved CE course within your two-year license term before expiration.
Your course provider reports your completion hours to the Nebraska State Electrical Division electronically.
Receive a certificate of completion from your provider and retain it as proof of attendance for your records.
Complete the renewal application and pay the fee online via the State Electrical Division website after October 15th of the renewal year.
Who Needs to Complete CE?
The following Nebraska Electrician license types require 12 hours of CE for renewal (Apprentice Electrician registration is exempt):
Important Notes
- All electrical licenses expire on December 31st of even-numbered years.
- The renewal period begins on October 15th of even-numbered years.
- All 12 CE hours must be from a course approved by the State Electrical Board.
- At least 6 of the 12 hours must be on the National Electrical Code (NEC). The remaining 6 hours can be on other approved electrical-related topics or studying the National Electrical Code.
- There is a grace period of three months past the expiration date to renew with a late fee; after three months, you must re-apply and re-test to obtain a new license.
- Working with an expired license is a Class I misdemeanor in Nebraska.
- You must provide a certificate of completion as proof of attendance to renew your license.
