CE Requirement – Delaware
Delaware Electrician Continuing Education Requirements: All Delaware-licensed Master, Limited, Journeyperson, Residential, and Apprentice Electricians must complete board-approved Continuing Education (CE) every two-year license period to be eligible for renewal. The number of hours required varies by license type.
Quick Steps to Renew Your Delaware Electrician License
Complete your required CE hours through a state-approved provider before the deadline.
Receive a certificate of completion from your course provider and retain it for your records in case of an audit.
Complete the online renewal application and pay the fee via the DELPROS portal before your license expires.
Who Needs to Complete CE?
The following Delaware Electrician license types have varying CE requirements for renewal:
Important Notes
- All electrician licenses expire on June 30th of even-numbered years.
- A renewal notice will be sent via email a few months before the expiration date with instructions for renewing online through the DELPROS portal.
- For 10-hour requirements: At least 5 of the 10 hours must be related to the National Electrical Code (NEC). This NEC requirement begins with the licensee’s second renewal.
- For full licensure renewal periods between July 1 and June 30 even-numbered years:
a) Active Master, Master Special, Limited and Limited Special Electrician’s must complete 10 hours of approved CE. Beginning with your second renewal, 5 of the 10 CE hours must be related to the National Electric Code.
b) Active Journeypersons, Residential and Apprentice Electrician’s must complete 5 hours of approved CE. - If you are licensed as a Master, Master Special, Limited or Limited Special Electrician and you have been licensed:
a) less than one year – you are not required to do CE
b) more than one year, but less than two years – you are required to complete 5 hours of approved CE - If you are licensed as a Journeypersons, Residential or Apprentice Electrician and you have been licensed:
a) less than one year – you are not required to do CE
b) more than one year, but less than two years – you are required to complete 2 hours of approved CE
Proof of enrollment in a Board-approved apprenticeship program can count toward an apprentice’s CE hours. - You must attest to completing your CE during the online renewal, and a percentage of licensees are randomly selected for audit.
- Continuing education hours do not carry over to the next renewal period.
