Texas – NEC 2023 Code Changes Update, Texas Safety & Laws

Course description

Covers the 2023 NEC code changes, beginning with Article 100 definitions and moving through Article 110 requirements for reconditioned equipment, electrical connections at terminals, arc-flash hazard warnings on service equipment, and spaces about electrical equipment. Participants examine changes to branch circuits and load calculations under Articles 210 and 220, including garage branch circuits, guest rooms and guest suites, floor area calculations, and electric vehicle supply equipment.

The course then addresses emergency disconnects under 225.41 and 230.85, selective coordination, box fill calculations, medium voltage cable and shielding requirements, flexible bus systems, switch and receptacle provisions, and GFCI and SPGFCI protection for luminaires. The final section covers Texas Occupations Code Chapter 1305 and 16 TAC Chapter 73, including licensing requirements, renewal, continuing education, and documentation of on-the-job training.
